    Oooh, banana chutney:D
Any chance of the recipe please tbw?
    Laters
    N x

    4 roughly chopped ripe bananas
    2 finely chopped onions
    1/2 pint malt vinegar
    4oz stoned chopped dates
    1/2 pint water
1" piece root ginger, peeled and chopped or grated
    1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes
    1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp ground allspice
6 oz soft light brown sugar
    1/2 tsp salt

Chuck everything other than the sugar in a large pan and simmer gently, stirring occaionally, until everything is soft and nearly all the liquid has evaporated (THIS WILL TAKE ABOUT 90 MINUTES)

Add the sugar and stir over a low heat until dissolved then bring to the boil and boil rapidly until its thick (STIR WELL COS IT WILL STICK LIKE **** IF YOU DON'T !)

Pour into hot sterilised jars and put the lids on. Needs to mature for a month or two to mellow a bit but keeps well for months after that.

I use cheap over ripe bananas when T or A sell them off for pennies and I have made this substituting raisins for the dates. Todays batch I tried half and half raisins and dates - I also generally add an extra couple of handfuls of the raising as DH likes it fruity ! It really is rather moreish and I usually pot some into some very small jars so I can take them with us when we are travelling by ferry from Dover don't like ferry food so I take a posh picnic and some wine and the chutney goes with it)

    Mr T sells a 350g Heroes carton :(

As for the sweets - you bought 6. The multi was picked up on 3 non-aeros and the remaining 3 glitched because the aeros are on a separate multibuy

Thanks I am really lucky to be able to copy shops and good with remembering prices but I am not one for finer details and to date i win most of the time.:T As you say win some lose some I just assumed they would have been the same size The other sweets were cheaper than than the multiigures buy advertised so :D

You may understand my new bosses frustration with me I only like using rounded figures He is an accountant and was stressing over pennies in the pension figures The premiums are calculated and paid on annual salary but the staff are paid weekly so its out often by +/-20p a year The system is not mine as i would pay on deduction :)

Apologies if this is a daft question, but does the chutney have a strong banana flavour? I like bananas themselves but am less keen on things that taste of banana. It sounds like a lovely recipe though.

We have just had a lovely dinner of roast beef etc with a nice 2003 Rioja.

One thing we had with it was nice non-lumpy gravy. I struggle to stand there stirring while the gravy boils with so much else to do so a couple of weeks I treated myself to a robostir. It works brilliantly :D

Hi guys, hope everyone has had a good day.
Just a word of warning to anyone who does car boot sales and takes their dog with them (I don't suppose most of you would anyway). My daughter's friend was looking after her sister's dog and took it with her to the local bootie at Chirk and it was stolen:eek: Her Dad had left her alone on the stall for a while (she is 20) and some "gypsies" (hope this does not offend anyone) were looking at some shoes on the stall. They came back a little later and were making a fuss about these same shoes and next thing she realised the dog had gone:eek: The police think it was taken by known thieves. She was only 15 weeks old and belonged to a family with small children. They are all heartbroken:( So be careful peeps x

"Interesting" night here last night. 14 year old three doors down was left home alone and decided to have a party. Of course it got out of hand - kids were out on the roof  then spilled out onto the street. Neighbour asked them to keep the noise down, kids started getting lippy, metal ladder thrown at neighbours new car   Neighbour appeared wielding baseball bat    Police slow to arrive and took best part of an hour to get kids dispersed - they kept drifting off then coming back again. Didn't get much sleep :(

Said party host has just been dragged round by his father to apologise. It seems he was not left at home but had lied to his parents about where he would be staying. We got a mumbled and rather shamefaced apology. DH told him there had better not be any repeat performances and that he needed to learn from what had happened. The father was clearly extremely angry about the whole incident and assured us the boy was being grounded for several weeks. It's not clear yet who will be held responsible for the damage to the neighbour's car but he has been told by the police to keep the ladder as evidence.

    When is your next exam

Next (and last) one is in December. I've not decided which paper to sit but I'm leaning towards Tax and Taxation. I'll not be using round numbers in the exam because I dislike them too :rotfl:
