Help with application confusion

Hello everyone,
Our mortgage broker made an application to Aldermore as we appear to fit their criteria (some adverse credit, no defaults showing in last 3 years, no CCJ etc.).
They have declined the application due to a CCJ. They were unable to give the broker any more details so I rang them direct to find out what they had seen.
Neither myself or my partner have ever had a CCJ registered against us and nothing shows on any of our credit reports but apparently Aldermore found a CCJ on my partners Experian report, from back in 2011 for quite a large amount - registered at an address we weren't living in that long ago. My partner was still studying back then and definitely did not borrow anything similar to that amount.
I rang Experian with my partner and they have told us they are unable to see any record of a CCJ under any address we have ever lived at. They tried all avenues to find it but said they could not see any CCJ.
I rang Aldermore back and they said that they would not even be able to tell me what they had found (totally different to what the previous adviser had told me). They said there must be a CCJ or Default registered on there within the last 3 years but said they cannot tell me and would not discuss any further.
I am at a loss as to what to do as we do not have a CCJ - but we are now concerned about the whole matter as it is preventing us from progressing.
Is there any other way we can check definitively that there are no CCJs?
I am waiting for a call back from the broker but I thought I would ask here whilst I'm waiting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is every previous address known to all three CRAs?
Aldermore uses only Call Credit, so obtaining your Noddle credit files would be a sensible first move!I am a mortgage broker. Yes every address is on there. We have Experian, Equifax & Noddle accounts and there is no CCJ on any of the reports!
Aldermore told me that they had seen the CCJ when they checked with Experian which is why I rang Experian, who stated they could find no CCJ.
Thanks for replying Kingstreet I appreciate it !0 -
Perhaps try searching the Registry Trust database which records CCJs and court orders.

This is where the lenders obtain their information also.0 -
Aldermore uses only experian. They can check call credit by special request if for instance the mortgage payment is not on experian as a way to avoid having to send in 12 months bank statements/mortgage statement.kingstreet wrote: »Is every previous address known to all three CRAs?

Your broker needs to get on to their aldermore account manager and find a way forward.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I considered this earlier and wasn't sure if it was the right place to check. I have just tried it and thankfully it was only £4 -it shows exactly what I thought it would, nothing registered:
Online Search
Detailed Report for : MISS XXXXXXX Your Ref : XXXXXXXXX
England and Wales Orders & Judgments
NOTHING REGISTERED
Thanks for all of the replies guys, we've come a long way towards getting this sorted by paying debts off and getting financially sorted out. It's been a bit of a blow today as I was pretty sure we would get accepted for mortgage at least with Aldermore as we seemed to fit their criteria.
Aldermore were convinced that there is a CCJ, they had the name of my partner, the address we live in currently, the registered date and amount.
I am awaiting a call back from the Broker I will tell him to contact Aldermore and tell them they are mistaken.
We do appreciate the help you all offer, so thanks again.0 -
I'd share a screenshot of the outcome of your search on the Registry Trust with your broker so that they can discuss and clarify with Aldermore.0

Why did I think Aldermore was Call Credit only?Aldermore uses only experian. They can check call credit by special request if for instance the mortgage payment is not on experian as a way to avoid having to send in 12 months bank statements/mortgage statement.

Kensington is Equifax only I think.
Skipton is only one I know of who is call credit only.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks for the help guys, our broker is going to contact them today and forward a copy of the registry trust info to them.
I'm not sure if it's worth starting a new thread to ask, but: is it correct that Aldermore are our only shot at getting a mortgage at this stage?- 10% deposit looking to borrow £144k with combined usable earnings of £46k.
- Two defaults on my credit file from 2011. One satisfied one outstanding 2k.
- 1 Payday loan in last 3 years on partners file.
- 1 missed payment each in last 3 years on mobile phone contracts.
My concern is that if Aldermore don't budge, even though something has clearly gone wrong, we'll be stuck without a chance.
Again thanks for help
