8*60= 480
1/100*480= 4.8
0.8*60= 48
4.8 minutes or 4 minutes and 48 seconds by my calculations.0 -
4 mins 48 seconds ..I think0

Thankyou guys,this is also what i got but then i confised myself.
So if 4.48minutes is 1%
What would be 5% and 10% in minutes also?
I have really confused myself i think i have thought about this too hard0 -
Well accordingly 45mins20secs should be 10%?0

It's not 4.48 minutes, it's 4 minutes and 48 seconds, which is 4 and 48/60 minutes or 4.8 (4 and 80/100 minutes). Hope that helps.0 -
So if 4.48minutes is 1%
No, previous posters said it was 4.8 mins, which is also 4m48s, NOT 4.48mins
What would be 5% and 10% in minutes also?
Assuming 4.8 and 4m48s to be correct;
5 * 4.8 = 24 mins
(5*4) + (5*48 / 60) = 20 + 4 = 24mins
10% is double 5%, so 24*2 = 48mins
If you don't follow the method, just ask.
To expand on Southend1's post;
8h*60(mins)*60(secs) = 28800 seconds in 8 hours
1% or 1/100th of 28800 = 288 (seconds)
288 / 60 = 4(mins) leaving 48 seconds (4*60 = 240. 288 minus 240 = 48), so
1% = 4mins 48secs0 -
Or, starting with finding 10% rather than 1% :
10% of 8 hours is one-tenth of 8 hours which is eight-tenths of one hour.
An hour is sixty minutes and a tenth of sixty minutes is six minutes. So eight-tenths of one hour is eight times six minutes. 8x 6 is 48.
That is 10% and 5% are 48 and 24 minutes (as above.)0 -
Another alternative is to start by converting and working with minutes.
That is, eight hours is 480 minutes. You can then find a tenth or twentieth or hundredth of that (probably) straightforwardly.0
