Hi I am just after some advice regarding my husbands employer.
My Husband has a 35 hour a week contract where he can work 7 hours a day between 7am and 11pm 5 days a week Sunday to Saturday. He gets slightly over the minimum wage and also receives double pay if he works bank hols and he gets a weekend premium of around £10 additonal per weekend day he also gets time and half over a certain amount of hours worked 35 to 42 and double if he goes over 42 but this is extremly rare.
This week however all employee's for the company have been approached with an opt in for a new scheme - he can work all the hours he wants ( effectively a 0 hour contract) and he will get paid £7.05 an hour with no additional pay at all for any over time or weekend premium. He has told them that he is not interested this as he is happy the way it is and it is not beneifical to him.
My question is further down the line can they force all employees to join this scheme? If so does it appear that this is effectively a 0 hour contract?
Thank you.

Is your husband in a union? If so he should have a chat with his rep or call the member helpline for advice. If the union is recognised they would likely have been involved in negotiations or consultation around the new contracts and may therefore have useful information.0
