I've set up a plan where every Thursday I take a set amount out of the bank for the weekend & we have got £60 left in the envelope from last week, I don't think that's ever happened before, not that I'm complaining! We got in the habit of going out shopping, even if we didn't actually need anything, this usually meant going to a coffee shop & also lunch, so we were spending the weekend money & taking more out besides! Well no more! Lol
This week will be a quiet weekend, my daughter has her friends birthday party on Saturday so that will be a tenner in a card for her, but we don't have anything else planned so I'm not gonna take anything out of the bank this weekend & see if that lasts, I'm getting good at this, I'm treating it as a challenge to spend less!
We have got a freezer full of meat & fish so I'm gonna do a check & use what's in there for meals for the foreseeable, just got to buy a bit of fresh stuff to go with it.
Have a good day everyone,

You are doing so well Rosie. Keep going it feels good to be in control. :T
When you have built up a little money it makes you realise just how much you must waste without realising doesnt it.
I too am building up a small emergency fund but honestly don't know how

Any chance of making a bit extra at home Rosie, to make your totals go down sooner? Anything you could sell? Sign up for some survey sites?
You might also like to investigate the payment a day challenge - that can get quite addictive!
Good luck with it, you have done brilliantly so far0 -
Awww thanks everyone, it's really encouraging on this site & it makes you really want to carry on with your journey! We will all definitely get there one day!
I'm going to try & fully pay off the Tesco CC before Xmas & then it will make us £100 better off which can be paid towards paying our relative off for the middle of next year, we will feel so much better once that debt is paid!
We have a 2 year plan as we eventually want to extend our house as our kitchen is really tiny, we have quite a few rooms but they are all quite small. In 2 years we will have come out of our fixed rate on our mortgage, all the debt will be paid off & then (hopefully) we will be able to remortgage & borrow the extra for the extension, also we will be able to go onto a repayment mortgage as we are interest only at the minute. It has always been our plan to go back on repayment as interest only scares us a little.

Well, we've had a good day today on the spending front, spent £50 at the supermarket & that will last the whole week, apart from a little bit of fresh stuff midweek.
I'm really loving doing the meal planning, it saves loads in both money & also food :j
I took my daughter to a party this morning & all I bought was a coffee whilst I was there, which was really good! Although I was a bit sad when I got home as I realised that the tenner I had put in my jeans pocket had gone, so I think I must have dropped it somewhere! Grrrrr. I hope whoever finds it really needs it!
Got to go now

Well, keeping this diary must really be making something change in my subconscious mind cos we haven't hardly spent anything this weekend & that's not like us! I mentioned it to my hubby & he said not to complain lol.
Started to sort out the kids playroom today & the utility room, I'm gonna have a good clearout, I think it will help our mindset!
DD has come home with a letter from school today, she wants to learn how play the violin, the lessons are in school time, she made me laugh when she said it was 'only' £180 for the year lol. She has to have an assessment first & if they think she's suitable she can do it.
Have a nice evening everyone

Morning all
It's child benefit day today so that takes the savings up to £1300, which I must admit is the most that we have had saved for as long as I can remember!
I've been talking to my hubby about what he thinks is the best way to do this & he says he wants to save up & pay stuff off when we have enough for each one, so our first aim is the Tesco CC, which we're hoping we'll be able to pay off just after Xmas, we could probably aim to have it paid off before Xmas but I feel better doing it just after. I've changed the direct debit to it so that it pays £100pm instead of decreasing with the minimum payment, this way it will be easier to work out the payment schedule.
I'm off to get kiddies their breakfast now, so have a nice day everyone!

Sounds like another good plan. Imagine the feeling when it's paid off though :j
Well done for building your savings pot too. When you are focussed and in control its amazing how much you can actually save. I have discovered that with my small emergency fund. However it's going up not down that's the main thing eh.

Thanks 12 month challenge, you are so right! I love your user name btw, I'm going to aspire to it & set my own 12 month challenge!
I'm starting to work out next months money today, a bit early I know as it's not payday until Monday but I like to be prepared!
DS starts full time school next year & I've been thinking a lot about what I'm going to do when he starts. Our plan was always for me not to go back to work, but I was talking to one of the mums at school yesterday & she's just started a dinner lady job, she works one hour & 15 minutes a day & she's just been paid about £180 for the month. I talked to hubby about it & we said we like the sound of it, I can't see me never working again & I love being with kids & I'd get the school holidays off too, win-win!
Have a nice day!

Hi Rosie
My username is a little challenge I want to do and see how much I can reduce my debt within that time.
I will by no means be debt free but I will be a lot better off
(fingers crossed)
I am aiming to clear my debts one at a time and setting myself small achievable targets. This will keep me motivated. Well that's the plan.
I think a little part time job is a good idea. Also the extra money is a bonus as well as having the school holidays off :T
I am still always looking for ways to add a little bit of money here and there to my debts and my emergency fund. I look every day :rotfl:
Maybe my username should be
