Hello folks
I'm looking for a tried and tested vegetarian haggis lasagne recipe..... I've googled it and found a couple of recipes but mostly the recipes I've found are just normal haggis with the recommendation to substitute the veggie haggis for the 'meat' one.
I've not had much luck in the past with veggie substitutions as a lot of the time recipes depend on the fat etc that comes out of meat products and swapping them for veggie stuff can leave you with a rather dry version of you recipe.
So I'm hoping one of you good MSE people will have a recipe that you've used, know works and that tastes superb!

Regular Haggis is about 19% fat http://www.macsween.co.uk/products/delicious-every-day-haggis/,
Veggie is about 16% http://www.macsween.co.uk/products/delicious-every-day-vegetarian/
Is the 3% difference going to make that much difference?0 -
Add a bit of oil or some oily vegetarian cheese.0

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Old Style’ board, where it is better suited.
Regards

I didn't know the percentages of fat in "ordinary" and veggie haggis, so my thanks to jon81uk for the info.
Based on this, I'd think adding in a smidge of olive oil would solve the problem; if I can get hold of some veggie haggis (don't often see it down here in Concrete Cow Country) I'll give it a go.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Could you put some marscapone cheese in with the tomato sauce, I would just be tempted to make up a sauce using, onions, mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, herbs, red wine, marscapone cheese and chopped up vege haggis, layer it up with lasagne sheets and top with a cheese sauce. Once you have tasted it you will have ideas of how to improve it.0

If you are willing to pay the delivery charge, you can order online https://www.haggisuk.co.uk/haggis/vegetarian-haggis or check supermarkets near you http://www.macsween.co.uk/where-to-buy/, I would expect Waitrose to have it http://www.waitrose.com/shop/DisplayProductFlyout?productId=288830

Thanks for the info.
I only have Aldi, Morrisons and Tesco in easy reach, since Waitrose moved out of the city centre.
Not keen on paying delivery charges - may see if Mr LW fancies trying to find our way to where Waitrose have moved to if I can't find any in the easy-reach places (last time we tried, we got royally lost!)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
