Pizza

Options
Hi

I would love to make pizza that tastes just like dominoes and pizza hut but not sure where to start.

How do they make their base?

Which type of sauce do they use?

Any tips would be great.

I'm sorry, I have no idea how they make theirs, but I wonder if there's a recipe in that book called The Takeaway Secret.

When I made pizza, I used a basic bread dough (500g strong white flour, 1tsp each of dried yeast, sugar and salt and about 300ml of water) and for the sauce, I used passata mixed with oregano and basil.

    Hi

I imagine the takeaway secret book will help you. I would say much of the " taste" is likely to be in fats and sugars added which you may not prefer.

I'm with GV. I make a pizza dough from basic bread mix ( in the breadmaker 45 mins) and then prove in the oven for 20 mins. I use passata ( 500 g of Lidls is about 39p and will do at least four big pizzas). I sprinkle in some dried mixed italian herbs ( about 70p a pot from Tesco) then add cheeses etc. to your hearts content. Can do garlic bread using the same mix.

    Good luck

I make pizza every week the dough base I make is
    500g bread flour
    1 sachet fast acting yeast
and warm water - sorry don't know the amount as I just judge it
I don't add salt as DH is not allowed too much but between 1/2 to 1 tspoon not added near the yeast as it can retard it (stop it growing)

I mix this all up in my Kenwood mixer using a dough hook, it saves me kneading it when I am in a rush.

Whilst its mixing I prepare the toppings - i.e. chop onion, veggies etc.

You can buy pizza sauce/passata but if I am in a hurry I just spread thinly with tomato pur!e add vegetables and meat and finally the cheese (normally sainsbury's basic mozzarella) cook in a fan oven 180C for 12/15 minutes - my 2 boys now prefer home made now

    Hope this helps

Make a pizza with loads of base and minimal toppings. Drizzle 8 tbsp oil on top

    Enjoy!

Dominos use cornmeal when tossing their pizzas (that yellow stuff you see them rolling it around in if you ever go in store) if you're looking for that texture on the base.
