Should holiday accrue from first day of work?

            They can do that if they want, you are getting statutory entitlement so everything beyond is a bonus but that is the way they happen calculate it.
 You will get people advise you be militant about it (as its your job at risk, not theirs, assuming they work), I'd say, be careful with it as you are still new and there is no point losing your job over 2.5 days holiday.0

            My old work said this about holidays and we only had 28 days holiday (Statutory minimum) but i fought it and got my holidays.
