Best place to sell books

Afternoon

Declutterng house ready for new furniture and it's evident I need to get rid of some books! Most of them are novel types, some are my old law textbooks.

Just wondering where is the best place to sell, as I know there are a few sites which take books, but don't want to go via the wrong ones...ideally would like as much as I can get for them...novels probaby won't be much but the textbooks were expensive so would like some of it back!

Thank you :)

How old are the "old law textbooks"? If they're more than about five years, they might be essentially unsellable. If they're very recent, and if you still live near your old university, you might be better off trying to sell them locally to new students in October.

For the rest, you could try www.webuybooks.co.uk/. But unfortunately old books just aren't worth very much.

My best bet I reckon is a car boot sale! It wont be worth selling most books online. A car boot sale will be good if you have other things to sell as well. I reckon you list a book for £1 or 50p for the novels at a car boot sale.

If there are any books you think might go for more have a look on Amazon or eBay to see if any are selling.

I gave my old books away to my housemates and charity shops. 2nd hand books don't get much online due to the postage costs
  • If you have a few by the same author, or even better in series of books then Ebay is quite good. I've just put some bundles on and 1 has sold straight away for £10 for 4 novels by the same author - i was quite pleased with that as some of the book buying sites don't always want what you've got.

I thought i'd pop some more on in groups like 4 x Crime Novels, or 4 x thrillers for the odd ones i've got.
  • I remember trying to sell my old law textbooks. I tried various different sites but they didn't sell and eventually ended up being dumped. Which was such a shame as I had spent hundreds on them (if not thousands.) The problem is they go out of date so quickly.
