Hi there
Is there a thread anywhere of Christmas temp jobs with details of which companies hire Xmas temps and any added extras you get such as staff discount? If not shall we try and create one? (Selfish reasons as I am looking for a temp Xmas job this year!)

Argos, boots, Royal Mail, Debenhams, John Lewis, House of Fraser etc. Large shopping centres often have recruitment centres/offices within the management suite where they will take in your CV.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Macdonalds, you get 50% discount of food as a perk and a free meal during your shift.0

I would imagine every major retailer / warehouse would require temporary Christmas staff via agency e.g. Next, TK Maxx, ASOS,
In fact if you drive through an industrial area they tend to hang large banners out front saying when they need staff.0 -
Get looking on the job ad websites, I saw some posted last week.
Give the individual websites for the big retailers a try.
Don't know about discounts, not sure if temps working for the retailers get staff discount.0 -
First, Royal Mail christmas temp jobs just gone live.
Also, go to Huntress agency and register with them and they will find you xmas jobs in no time. As most businesses are recruiting these days.
Good luck.0 -
In answer, I can't say I have seen many xmas jobs with additional perks/bonus/incentive/commission - except R/M as a possibility with pay enhancement for some hours
My local Debenhams pay £6.50 for 8-12 hours last look, I know someone who started there as a temp and got a good 3 years of employment from it so the advantage was there to be had in the long run I guess
Royal Mail had these pay rates
Pay Rate Mon - Sat 06.00 - 22.00 £6.70 Mon - Sat 22.00 - 06.00 £7.10 Sunday 06.00 - 22.00 £7.90 Sunday 22.00 - 06.00 £8.90 - See more at: https://jobs.royalmailgroup.com/job/Christmas-Casual-Chelmsford-Mail-Centre-Earlies-CM2-5AA/56635901/?feedId=111701&utm_source=Indeed&utm_campaign=RMG_Indeed#sthash.NLluK6IP.dpuf
So check out your local area now?
Sorry I'm not more knowledgeable then this, hopefully something comes up for you with RM or Maccie Dee's

I know I started as a temp in 2013 & in about 3 weeks I'll gain that magic 2 year mark & am currently training towards promotion. What I will say is this year more than ever I've had nothing but wasters coming in & demeaning temp jobs - with some even stating they wouldn't work for NMW. Needless to say that none of them will be getting one of our jobs which while they're short contracts (8hrs) that's the base hours & in the run up to Christmas will likely be full time hours.
(The majority of which will be paid at a rate significantly above NMW - which won't be told to anyone randomly asking what we get paid!)Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

Its worth checking out catering and events agencies for silver service, bar work and plate service, I used to do that and December was boom time, I could usually double my hourly wage with tips.0
