Why doesn't the envelope open?

Bob , the icon on the start screen is just that , an Icon ,an icon cannot change from closed to open , its a fixed icon (a picture) perhaps different versions of gmail or even countries or the OS version use either a closed or an open envelope
the photo (picture) could even be using "poetic licence" to entice people to buy the product0 -

Google changed the icon

I use the standard android email app, I use it for lots of different providers. Whilst on holiday I tried to send an email with it from a Gmail address and it said my app was not secure enough to send the email and to use the Gmail app.
So the android email app made by google is insecure but the gmail one made by the same people is not?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Google stopped work on the standard email app when Lollipop was released. They do not support it any more. There are many third party email apps for Android as well.0
