what are your goals?
I would design my routine on what I am looking to achieve in the gym.0 -

What is it you want to achieve? are you after loosing weight? toning up? abs? bulking up with muscle?
I try and mix it up a lot, don't try and do the exact routine each time as your body will only get used to it.
maybe do one day on abs, one day for legs and so on.
I noticed that if your after loosing weight try starting with weights before cardio.0 -
When I went to the gym I booked a session with a personal trainer every so often to discuss my goals and have them design a programme to meet my needs using the equipment available. Classes were great too and I used to go to a number of different ones to keep things interesting.
Oh the days before childrenTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
It depends what you enjoy and what you want to achieve. I could tell you what I do, but that is probably totally different from a guy looking to gain muscle mass. I go 4x a week and do circuits one of those times (programme changed every 6 weeks). I do 4 different circuits, one is Cardio and three are with free weights (dumbells, medicine balls, weight plates)
The other three sessions right now are made up of six lifts, so bench/push and leg press, back squats, barbell rows and deadlifts. I do 2 of these in each session and they are mixed up so I don't do the same two together each time. Even then, it is different how many sets or reps etc
Sometimes I do stairs while carrying weights for cardio or some boxing, but usually weights will be somewhere. I have a PT with me for the three main sessions and he changes things constantly when needed and knows when to increase things or change them.
It's probably best to get a gym induction and programme, not to ask people here as we don't know what you do and don't enjoy, what goals you have, injuries etc
Good luck tho!0
