Has he passed 55? Would his employer match his extra contributions? Can he do it at work by Salary Sacrifice (sometimes called Smart Pensions)?Free the dunston one next time too.0

If its a final salary scheme then almost certainly it will be better with the pension. However, as always, the devil is in the detail and personal circumstances.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I would keep paying into a FS pension if he has one, but I would also be tightening my belt and saving outside it as well- into cash and a DC pension and maybe S&S isas.0
