Lowell Group taking me to court

Hello,
I have been receiving calls from Lowell Group for the past 6 months chasing me for a Credit Card debt from my previous address. They have refused to tell me when I was supposed to have taken this card out, only saying that there was a default registered in 2012, when I no longer lived there. I have no record of this default and don't remember taking out any such card!
I have requested that they send me all documents referring to this card but they have not sent a single thing.
I asked them to stop calling me and to send any future correspondence through the post (9 times in an hour on one occassion), and they did but no contract or details were posted to me regarding the card, then last month I received a call from Bryan Carter Solicitors asking me to pay. I explained to them that I did not accept the debt because I didn't believe I owed it and again asked them to send me proof of the debt and default.
I have received nothing until this morning where I received a county court claim form for Lowell.
Is there anything I can do??
Many Thanks

Are you sure there is no record of it? Have you checked all 3 CRA's? (Noddle (call credit) and clearscore (equifax) for free; you'd need to pay to see Experian.
Have you proof that you sent them letters asking for proof. i.e. recorded delivery slips? Or email if you did it that way? If you defend and state you do not owe it and that you've asked for proof, and it is definitely not on your credit file then at least you've the evidence to support your argument.
But the first thing I would do is check your files and go from there.0
