With a zero hours both the employer and employee have the flexability.

You can work at other places

That is simply a load of old tosh IMO.

Let us assume that I am on a zero hours contract.
Monday morning I turn up to work and the boss says that I will not be able to work that day. I therefore have to go home - how is that flexible?
Tuesday morning, I phone up the boss and tell him that I have work for the day, that I can come back tomorrow. He says that he needs me today otherwise I lose my job - how is that flexible?
  • The employees have a lot of power if they want to exercise it but most just let the employer walk all over them.
I don't believe that's the case. After simply asking questions my partner has now all of a sudden had no work offered to her this week, despite it being a very busy week at the company.

Woops you have to do it as a group not an individual.

They all have to do it at the same time.

Make the point they all refuse the shifts for a period.
(zero hours can no longer be exclusive or insist you accept offers of work)

No workers will focus their minds where the power lies.

as I said some won't as they prefer to let the employer walk all overthem
