Hi this morning we noticed we had left the fridge freezer freezer door open a bit and we had to bin a pack of fish figners/place fillets as they were soggy, most of the other food further in the freezer felt froze still so hoping there ok, one item which was part defrosted was a pack of 2 Iceland lamb shanks, I have took these out and put in the fridge, will these be ok to use tonight? these only seem to give cooking instructions for frozen cooking and not defrosted? thanks

I usually defrost lamb shanks before reheating them and we're still here.0 -
I wouldn't have binned the fish and fish fingers, I would have just cooked them off.0

agreed . Although a lot of things will say "cook from frozen" or similar, almost anything can also be cooked from defrosted - just reduce the time , and do regular checks0 -
well when I say binned, there actually in a carrier bag next to my bin in the kitchen but will be at room temperature as at work full day.0

Sometimes I will put the odd frozen pizza or ready meal in the fridge if I have done too much shopping and can't fit everything in the freezer. Still perfectly fine to cook from defrosted within 24-48 hours.0

I wouldn't use the fish fingers now, but for future reference, I would have used them this evening, and the lamb tomorrow.
I don't know how to cook lamb shanks from frozen - I always defrost, and Lee is right, 24-48 hours is fine, even 3 days if well wrapped & in fridge.0
