current account for discharged?

Hi
I currently have the cashcard account with Barclays which I opened when I went BR in June 2014. They won't open a current account for me yet even though they said that they would when I was discharged.
Does anyone know of any decent high street banks who will offer a current account to a discharged BR? I earn a decent salary now (£1500+ a month take home ) I'm having a fight with Natwest as they should have closed the current account we used to have as a joint account but they still keep sending me text messages to tell me I'm/ we're £74 overdrawn despite me telling them we went BR in 2014 and have both now been discharged.
I'm only looking for a single account.
Thanks

Barclays will probably upgrade your account but not straight away. I think I was 3 years post discharge before the upgraded mine to a full account but to be honest, there's no difference between the two accounts.
Being totally honest, you'll probably struggle to get a full account so soon after discharge. The only ones I know of have slipped through the net, and their full account was never closed when they went BR.Feb 2024:
CC1 6537.66
CC2 7804.45
CC3 4221.17
CC4 2053.68
CC5 989.30
Loan 1 3686.44
Loan 2 5275.22

On a similar note I'm due for discharge 2 weeks today (seems to have gone really quickly!).
At the moment I have basic accounts with Barclays and Co-op but ideally I want to move away from both of these.
Once discharged will any of the other banks let me open a basic account straight away?xxx Nikki xxx0 -
You may get lucky with Nat West, Nicki.
As for a current account then you will have to wait until your BR drops off your account except for Barclays who normally will upgrade when you provide proof of discharge.
Have you done the Credit File Clean Up as per the sticky?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I'm still working through the credit file clean up and most are now showing as satisfied/ part settled. Apart from Natwest who seem to be ignoring me.
What can I use as proof of discharge as the OR said they don't issue certificates anymore? All of my views are my own

There's a central email address you use and they send proof. I can't find it at the moment so I'll pm someone to help.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
