Do you have 2 children now? or 1 and 1 on the way?
Cos £360 for 2 kids doesn't seem right
We earned £26k in 13/14 tax year and got £221 every four weeks from them, also with 2 kids your child benefit should be £137 ish every four weeks? xxDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

Hi sorry, one other questions, how many hours are you working? Just wondering if you're on less than 16 which would explain lower benefits0

whats the medical cost for? Due to income you are surely entitled to free dental etc....
Health insurance and contact lenses, I'm going to look into buying lenses in bulk but my health insurance also covers children and I get £150 back a year for the lenses and will get £300 when the baby is born.kindofagilr wrote: »Do you have 2 children now? or 1 and 1 on the way?

1 and 1 on the way. I get £65 a week tax credit (apparently that's the maximum amount for one child?) and the £20 for child benefit at the moment. It'll go up when baby arrives in late October.Hi sorry, one other questions, how many hours are you working? Just wondering if you're on less than 16 which would explain lower benefits
I'm not working, the figure is for Maternity Allowance. Apparently that compared to an income of 10k last year entitles me to the same amount of tax credits.0 -
I think i'd seriously look at cancelling the Health insurance - it's something that you really can't afford at the moment.
Good luck with it allx

Also, if you're not working at the moment can you cut the childcare cost of £90 per month out?0

That doesn't make sense when the OP makes a profit from it. It would have to be replaced by the £150 she is claiming every year instead and don't forget she will get a £300 cheque when the baby is born.
I'd keep it.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

.
Maximum tax credits are £65 a week and £20 child benefit but that's multiplied by 52 and divided by 12 so £370 per month and you need to enter 1 child in the household on the SOA so it doesn't confuse posters including myself offering advice when they say you aren't getting enough benefits. It's now got many posters worried more about the accuracy of your SOA when there's other problems.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

anna beat me to it on this, its one of the things that stuck out for me. Why are you paying childcare costs if you're not working? That's something that could be cut for now until you are back in work.0 -
I think you need to do the SOA as if it's October so if you are counting 2 children you should put in the benefits you will be getting for the 2 (I understand 1 is not quite here yet)
Also the childcare. If you are not working do you need the childcare? It might be worth doing various SOAS one for this month (if you feel you need to), one for when the baby is here and you get more benefits, and then presumably one for when you go back to work and you get money from work but different benefits, and need childcare.
Mobile phone - can you cut the tariff on this? I get unlimited texts and minutes for £18 a month.
In terms of a car, I'm not sure if you can afford one, just the cost of getting one, getting it taxed and insured, petrol, and maintenance and that's before repaying any other debts. I assume the £45 is for buses that's in there at the moment?

OK I'll edit that to make it clearer0
