Gloucester Official Receivers - advice needed asap

Has anyone any experience of what the Gloucester Official receivers have actually taken in regards of household goods and cars.My best friend is about to go bankrupt and I am very worried about her as she is a single parent. I know all receivers can be different just wanted to check, on her behalf about the Gloucester OR.Cheers

    Hi Swamp,

The OR won't take any household goods unless they are things like £1000 plasma TV's or if she has a Rembrandt hidden under the bed. It is not worth them taking other things as they have to auction and they won't get a lot of money for things like second hand computers.

As for the car it will depend how much it is worth and if she can prove it is a necesity (sp?) not a conviniance (sp?)

  • Her car is worth about 2500 but I can't think of anything other than being a single parent to argue for keeping it as she can walk to school and work. Would that be enough to argue the case? Just worried that's all.

I'm not an expert by any means but suspect the OR will sell the car. If she can make a case for having a car then the OR may allow some money to buy a cheap runaround. I'm sure someone will be around tomorrow after the weekend who can suggest ways to argue for a car.
