Broken Tooth - Advice Required

I was flossing my teeth at the weekend and after a small crunch, realised I had pulled a bit of tooth off! This tooth had been heavily filled previously and the filling is still intact. I have had no pain since the tooth came off and it is only a very small amount of actual tooth.

I rang my dentist on Monday morning and the earliest (easily accessible) appointment is next Friday. Should I be okay leaving the tooth for this long or is it likely to decide the difference between fixing the tooth or extraction?

Secondly, I understand that this question may be easier to answer by my actual dentist but is it likely that a somewhat heavily filled tooth will need to be extracted or can it be saved? It doesn't seem to have come off from below the gum line.

Thank you :)

That timescale shouldn't be a problem.

If anything changes - like more breaking or pain starting though, then try and get in earlier. From what you describe through, a few days won't make any difference
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Similar happened to me, except I suspect that I cracked it scoffing rather hard Jelly Beans :o I went to the dentist & because it's at the back & not causing any pain I decided to leave it, & he agreed. Also I think he'd only have built it up a bit with whatever it is that they use, & the first sign of any pressure I fear it would've broken off again.
