Partner Finding Work

My Girlfriend is currently trying to find work, she has sent out numerous CVs and applications and heard nothing as of yet, shes never really had a problem before with part time work but now she is looking for full time something more career driven in an office or something but shes open to anything really. she just wants to stay away from retail work.
its getting her down not finding anything she has been on to a recruitment agency specifically for admin jobs and such and they had told her they can't get her a job with no admin experience, but how do you get the experience if you can't get the job to get experience.... anyway.
she has also applied for a few jobs working with children (thats what she wants to do) but she got a call and then they told her she can't have the job as she doesn't have enough PAID experience. shes worked for 3 years as girl guides leader in the past but as it was voluntary it doesn't count.. i thought voluntary work was supposed to be a good thing.
anyway just wondering if anyone has any advice, we are moving into our first house in November and although the mortgage and everything is sorted an extra income would be a huge stress relief at the moment.

Has she got anyone in the jobs that can keep their ear to the ground incase they hear of any jobs? There are usually a lot of people needed in the care industry in a lot of areas. It might be worth signing up to several agencies as they will all sing your tune and just go with the one who gives you the work first. Often it's not always long term (often covering holidays and the like) but when they know you are reliable then they often push more work your way (that's what I found when I temped 4 years ago and will be doing in the new year):T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Is she the sort of age where she could get into a new career through an Apprenticeship? I realise it's not ideal as pay is low etc but it can be a way into childcare and office work."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Sadly, only the most junior admin roles would be available without experience. Perhaps she could look at other types of client-facing roles thaat may offer a route in, such as receptionist roles? She could also look into retail roles with larger companies that offer routes into their admin teams/management areas. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I feel the same if that helps to know she is not alone! I apply and never even hear back. I have had one interview this year.
I am looking for part time work to fit around school and there just isn't much around. Could your girlfriend go for an apprentice position to gain experience?0 -
Has she considered temping? That might allow her to get in through the door as a temp. receptionist and then work from there. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
