Overpayment To Fredrickson

Hi all, hope this is the right place.
I became aware today that I have overpaid Fredrickson to the amount of £260. I've had a monthly repayment plan for a large debt for a long while now being paid by standing order. The debt was repaid but they failed to notify me by mail etc and I just accepted the monthly repayments as a part of life.
It wasn't until today that I decided to check my online account with them. I have sent a message requesting the money be returned to my account within the next 7 working days, or I will be forced to take further action. I might even charge them interest, see how they like it.
I was just wondering if anyone else has faced this problem and how much of a hassle am I likely to face reclaiming the money back?

Update on this, if anyone can shed some light?
Original debt was with nationwide for £744.47 paid off through fredrickson. They have come back to me stating any overpayment will be with nationwide, not them as they acted on behalf. Nationwide have said not the case.
Still waiting for further confirmation.
Just checked my credit report which is now showing a current defaulted debt with Nationwide of £2012, updated on 25/08/2015.
Have fredrickson even paid this debt off for me? Anyone?0 -
It appears that fredricson may only of been acting for Nationwide, so they may not of been the owner of the debt.
You need to have this clarified as soon as possible, in the 1st instance, if it's fredricson you have been paying, write and demand a full explanation from then, have them confirm if they are the owners or were just acting for the original creditor.
Threaten them with the FOS, as that would be your next step.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks guys, I just don't want to be pushed back and forth. I will be re-clarifying with Nationwide this morning (who I am inclined to believe more than Fredrickson) if they tell me I need to deal with Fredrickson to reclaim it, I may just skip that and get straight onto the FSO.0

The FOS will tell you that you have to go through Nationwide's / Frederickson's complaint procedure (they have 8 weeks to respond satisfactorily) before you can get them on the case.0

Thanks Krisdorey,
I've already set the ball rolling with that, I am aware of the wait between complaints procedures (I've traveled this road before) but sadly neither of them are willing to say that they've had this money at the moment.0
