SMA inverter guarantee

When we put in our solar pv system we took out an extended guarantee with sma extending the warranty to 15 years. Has anyone had to use their warranty yet and if so how did you get on?

Shouldn't think many folk have had their installs for more than 5 years, let alone stretching into extended warranty territory?

SMA is a recognised market leading and well respected brand, probably the most popular string inverter manufacturer.

But like all things, they do sometimes fail, although I've not heard of one going?
Ultimately your support system (your installer and the different components that make up your install with their differing guarantees) will dictate how painful any future problems are.

Personally, like most extended warranties, can't see the point myself?!
I anticipate, and have added in to my calcs the cost, to replace the inverter after 10 years.
Technology will have moved on a bit and so may be able to add more bells/whistles?
