    "plan is to make lots of festive luxury products we tend to buy at xmas so our december grocery bill not stupidly high."

    Gailey that is a really good idea - provided my OH doesn't find where I'm storing them :)

    :D Annie - you know me. How much chance is there that I could make xmas fruit cakes, jars of jam, & luxury xmas goodies and still have any left at xmas time ? :rotfl:

    Was so inspired by this thread, that I have FINALLY got round to changing our electric and gas suppliers. I have been meaning to do this off and on for the last year or so, but have finally got my backside into gear and done it!! I am very pleased with myself!! :j

    I have now finished pricing and planning all my winter preps.
    • Rent the villa below (stayed here for a couple of weeks a few years ago when I had what is called 'a job'!) from Oct to March should do it. Approx £40,000 for 6 months, room for negotiation I think;)
    • http://www.locogringo.com/tankah/tres_delfines.html?ID=788
    • Book flights x 2 £1000......sorry adult kids you're NOT coming
    • Arrange for hubby to have full pay (well at least the 75% he gets at the mo,of what was his full pay till a year ago) whilst off work for 6 months with job being kept open for him when he returns:D
    Goes off to check bank account for £41,000.
    I appear to be £40,995 short:eek:
    My husband is still not keeping me in the lifestyle that I wish to become accustomed too! He's had 18 years and failed every winter so far!

    Oh well, primark fleece PJ's again I guess, might treat myself to a new pair with the spare £5 I do have ;)

    Well I have made a start on buying some Christmas bits already and I have a big plastic box that I stick all the odd bargains that I find in the shops.Last week I had a £3.00 Bodyshop voucher so went in there and bought a pair of exfolliating gloves with the voucher so it only cost me a quid That will be one of my DGDs little tree presents wrapped around a nice bar of smelly soap.Its quite facinating looking for odd gifts when its 90F + in the shade .Good time to find some pretty candles in Wilkinsons or some other odds and ends .They usually do three packs of face wipes for less than a pound .its these little bits that add up when making up a gift basket in October

    Hi Guys!

    I was sorting through the present cupboard the other day and we have loads in from the January sales using mainly points from Boots, House Of Frazer sales, John Lewis sales and Debenhams..

    Ive worked out that we shouldnt have to buy anything much apart from DD's main present which isnt going to be cheap, my mums perfume which I will use my points (£40) and maybe some drink for OH for which I have started saving money on a gift card, so he can choose his own.. Also have all the cards, paper, string, tape, bows blah blah too:j:j:j

    Have also been saving £25pm on a M&S giftcard for all the food, drink, cake etc and enough left over for the sales for clothes (Per Una) at the Outlet locally.

    Well so far I have sat and made a start on what preperations I need to look into doing in our flat.

    I made a c*ck up last winter and paid the wrong amount on each payment card for the gas adn electric so whilst my electric which I pay £50 usually on a month came down nicely adn is at £131 to pay, my electric which I usually pay £100 a month on kept going up, and up, and up, and I now owe £500+ :eek::eek::eek:and am on a payment meter to sort the debt out! Not good but at least I don't get any bills and it can only come down now! Only problem is come winter I don't want to be left with no gas and struggling which is why I hate them in the first place but was my only option!!

    (before you ask Im in a shoddy, mould infested council flat) not nice.

    So so far my modifications list looks like this

    Living room
    * Fleece Blankets for chairs (new material sofas last year which make all the difference rather than cold leather ones!)
    * Draught Excluders for doors
    * Rug for TV end of living room
    * cheap curtain rails (ours currently stick out about a 3/4 of a foot
    from window so big draughty gaps!)
    * heavy curtains

    Bedrooms
    * Fleece for over/under sheets (got Bens need extra for ours and
    babes cot)
    * Blinds for window and fit them properly
    * Draught Excluder attached to door

    Hallway
    * Proper cuddle in bed for dog
    * Curtain over door
    * Letter box draught excluder
    * temperature on low for low constant level

    Kitchen
    * New Blind on window
    * Set temperature gauge/timer

    Clothing wise

    * Nightgown each (done)
    * New Pyjamas each
    * Scarf
    * Hat
    * Winter Coat
    * Jumpers or Hoodies
    * Gloves
    * Wellies for Ben / Me
    * Vests for Ben
    * snow suit for babe who will be 6 months by then

    Can feel a trip to primark coming on for a fair bit of it (mostly the clothing stuff) but will start putting a few pennies a side for the other things if not buying them ready. Have got a few sets of dodgy green curtains in my material bag in airing cupboard too so will use those to make draught excluders I think and watch out for other bits on sale/car boots/etc.

    Have seen a nice rug on the market that I'd like that is only a £10 but big enough to cover floor in end of living room so might grab that at some point too nearer the time. Dont want to be winter proofing house just yet because its still boiling!

    Do have a terramundi jar though that I'm hoping to put a few quid in a month form now on then I'll pop it open on a December pay day and go and top up the gas meter with what ever is in the jar so I know we have enough there though.

    Oh looks like I have plenty to do!
    Time to find me again
