I haven't been out in my car now since saturday - have been walking to work (which I should do more often in better weather really as it is near enough) and have just picked up milk at local shop. OH has a 4x4 so is going to take me to supermarket tonight so will restock a bit then. Though TBH I could probably last until next week if need be but could do with a bit of fresh fruit and veg to top up. Will check with neighbour before we go to see if they need anything picking up

My 4 year old is back at school today, first time since before Christmas due to school closure. I'm going to collect him soon, we're up in the Pennines so have thick snow and very icy pavements - joy!!! The house is nice and cosy and I have a sausage casserole bubbling away for dinner. Can't wait until we're all home and the curtains are drawn.
    Keep safe everyone.

We went out because we needed to stock up on rabbit and guinea pig food but rang pets at home first as they are in a valley and all was ok, however went to Mr S on the way home and the car park was hell, couldnt put hubby in wheelchair and had to carry bags back to car, but am stocked up again now and can last for 5 days I guess. Inside of windows in mine and DD's room were lined with ice but hubby was snug, which is good as he is disabled and has a bad enough time. Do feel for you guys who are snowed in.

The first sign of hypothermia can be depression which makes things worse as you cannot be bothered to move around then so keep warm people if you can.

Has to laugh today. For the first time I put a bottle of water in the car to swish over the windscreen when the washers dont work as its so annoying whn you go to wash the windows and the wipers automatically kick in and smear them so you cant see and guess what? - the bottle was frozen solid.

In Lincolnshire this morning at 8am it was -10C  so it had warmed up!

Great timing as they are now not gritting the roads but only salting them as per the govt directive  so the roads are lethal. Mr K topped the cars up with antifreeze and screen wash this morning.

I was out at 7 this morning for one of my transport surveys, and on my way to the tube station I walked in the middle of the (side) roads to avoid the pavements, which have become a skating rink.

The cold was biting and would you believe that the two trains and one bus I travelled on had NO heating on? What on earth are they doing with their extortionate fares?

Southwest Scotland not too bad, it got all the way up to zero this afternoon but back down to minus 8 earlier this evening. Going to try stocking up on basics tomorrow and hope there's salt in the supermarket. I've seen the thermometer hit -10 but it seems to be 'warmer' tonight, at -3C. Down to about 3 days worth of logs here but have 3 storage heaters, 2 oil filled electric heaters and a convector heater all on to maintain temp of about 16C. I do the imeasure meter readings, so will know what it's costing by Monday morning. I dread to think!

    Stay safe, folks!
