Slankets are in the new lakeland book at £29.99:eek::eek:

They had fake slankets (called Snuggie Rug or similar) in Netto for £14.99, red or grey I think x
  • hi not sure this is the best place to put this but its definatley winter related.

I want to try to insulate my little boys room better as the windows are ok but not great. At the moment he has a roman blind fitted to the wall that goes down over his window but i was thinking of getting a thermal blackout roller blind from argos to fit inside the recess to help stop draughts and heat loss from the radiator below the window (not that is been on much yet ) would this work?
    Grocery Challenge Feb 14 £500 / Spent £572.10!
    March 14 £500 / spent £488.45 :j

We mentioned a few pages back that alot (but not all) of the Morrisons stores were selling slankets for £10. They call them 'snuggle wraps' from what I have been told.

It's still worth a try if you have a Morrisons near you - especially at that price!!

I'm thinking along the same lines (my son's room needs decorating), but I'm not sure a thermal blind would make a huge difference on its own, because it won't make a seal against the frame. I will do it, since I'll be buying a blind anyway, but unfortunately I can't give you any feedback.

If I had a blind I was happy with, and I just wanted to make the room warmer, I'd be tempted to try the plastic film across the window frame trick.

my new flat has a blackout roller blind in the kitchen and whilst i had my doubts it would be very effective i've found it does a pretty decent job of keeping the cold at bay. you could always put some cup hooks up and hang up a fleece as a backup for really cold nights, very easy to cut to size so it's not in front of the radiator

Edited in - Just noticed that you said 'manned' - not sure where nearest one of those would be, certainly not within easy reach of here :D

do you have an old-style hardware store near you? They normally stock that kind of thing. They do where I live.
