Very cold here tonight. I came back about an hour ago and my flat is pretty chilly. I have fleecy slacks and jacket, and just now had to put on fingerless gloves to keep my hands warms while being able to type. And drinking hot water from my flask.

Only last year I would have put the heating full blast, but I'm determined to be far more careful this time round.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

also need a roman blind to fit inside the window in the spare room as brother-in-law is now staying in there.

Just popped into see what was happening in here as I am sat in bed between my fleece blankets cosy and warm, if you haven't tried it and get cold at night you should. Better than an electric blanket any day. All the best

    Hi All

Its particularly chilyl here today and with the clingfilm wrap on the windows i cant actualyl tell if its rainign or not which isnt helping .

Am trying to psyche myself up to take the dog out as everyone who has walked past my living room window is looking very wind blasted and cold - as in bobble hats, gloves, scarfs, and big huge jackets - will have to wrap littlie like an eskimo i think. He should be ok its just the dog im worried about.

He is a rescue dog and has some sort of psychological scarring from his previous owners because every time the weather turns cold he refuses to eat to the point you can see his ribs despite our best efforts - the dogs menu is better than ours most days and it gets wasted more often than not, he panics, is very jittery, has lots of accidents at every hint of going outside and whines alot. There are some evil people in the world........... Hes like this every year without fail (we've had him 3 years) and he gets no better, but I cant not walk him and dont have a secure garden that i could let him into (its communal as im a flat) so think a walk round the block should do him and hopefully wont unsettle him too much. Then back home to snuggle with small person.

I'm sure i saw sleet in the rain here yesterday too.

Mardatha - could you not make a sort of hinged door on your stick box form a piece of spare wood etc?? that way you could still get into it but it would have shelter too for the cat???

Also does anyone know anything about foxes?? My main wheelie bin is outside the gates of the garden and for some reason it is always knocked over (i take care that its shut etc) and im wondering if foxes are getting into it for food. I've seen alot around coming into other gardens when ive finished my sunday night shift and ive no problem putting stuf out for them - but what????? Dont want to poison the poor thigns but dont fancy them going through my bin incase they eat something they shouldnt.

Sammy, I've always been told if your bins get knocked over then it is usually down to badgers - foxes are not normally strong enough.

We have badgers getting into our bins often, they pull out the bin bags and scatter the contents all over the garden....I never know whether I should be happy we have badgers (I love them!), or cross because of the mess!

Old MacDonald - i did wonder how in the hell a fox had gotten a)the bin to fall over - its a normal wheelie bin not a small one b) and if fox was big enough. Still anyone know whats ok to feed for both animals?? hate the idea of any animal going hungry especially in the cold weather,

Jackie O - hope all is well hun and that you are home from the hospital soon. x

Update on the ear-muffs... I found some in Tescos teenager's clothing section, just plain black, £2.50, so I got a pair and wore them yesterday and... well, I don't think I've ever felt so silly! I'd be far happier if there were other people wearing them too... I got totally paranoid that everyone was looking at me/laughing at me :o kept my ears toastie warm though.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
