Why is my Tax Code 42T?

Hi All,
For the past few months my pay has been a couple of hundred quid shorter than expected, then I noticed I had the tax code "42T".
If I put my income into listentotaxman with no tax code it's hundreds of pounds higher than when I add the 42T tax code.
I believe 42T means I can only earn 420 quid a year tax free. I wonder what I did to deserve that?

Any debts to repay? Tax credits, child benefit, underpaid tax?
Have you not received a coding notice?
Nothing as far as I'm aware, and no notice.
I guess I should call HMRC.0 -
if you have lost the coding notice telling you why your code has changed then no one except HMRC can help youLandofwood wrote: »Nothing as far as I'm aware, and no notice.

a T suffix means HMRC is reviewing your code as there are items it is unsure of so you had best contact them and find out that what they are!0 -
As you haven't had a Notice of Coding it would appear you can't use the "structured e-mail" so a telephone call ( shortly before 8am) to request clarification?

A T code is usually on a second source (the T tells payroll not to automatically update the personal allowance each year).
Therefore it appears that they have split your allowances between two jobs (or pensions). Do you have any other sources of PAYE income?0
