Trying to understand my rps statement, it quotes a yearly pension and lump sum, and underneath it shows the value of my Brass 2 fund, are these separate schemes, ie the yearly pension quoted is guaranteed (final salary?) and the Brass 2 is DC scheme in addition to the yearly pension, any help would be appreciated.

Just a brief answer to your question (I'm also in the RPS), BRASS is an AVC so it is in addition to your pension (it's a way of saving extra for when you take retirement).
I can strongly recommend phoning the RPS pensions administration people at Darlington (the telephone number will be on your statement), they are very helpful and will be able to explain more comprehensively how it works.
You'll find loads more information on the Railway Pensions web site, including the booklet specific to whichever of the many sections you're in at:

As far as I understand it BRASS is an AVC scheme in which you build up benefits in addition to your main scheme pension.

Give the administrators a ring - they should be able to explain your pension statement.0
