Cheese slices

Does anywhere sell packs of "real cheese" slices i.e. not processed cheese, where the slices are individually wrapped?

We like to get these when we're going on a trip somewhere and starting early, as it's easy to throw a few sandwiches together in no time, but as they are always sold in packs of 10 or so, and "once opened, use within three days", it's not very practical.

They are missing a trick not selling individually wrapped slices. I'm sure they would be popular.
:D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

    Can you freeze cheese?

If you can, then M&S sell ordinary cheese in slices, but as you say a pack of 10. You could freeze these with a piece of grease-proof paper between each slice. So you could just use how ever many you wanted at a time.

(We do this with wraps but re-use the paper each time)

It's been years since I've bought cheese! But do remember they used to sell it sliced with a bit of grease-proof paper or plastic sheet inbetween, I'm not sure if they still do but I could have sworn I saw it on the shelves not so long ago in M&S and in Tesco where the cheese milk/non-dairy and yogurt section was.

    "We like to get these"

If two or more people can't get through three-and-a-third slices of cheese a day over three consecutive days and nine consecutive meals then the problem is you don't like cheese.

    Don't buy cheese.

Lol it's for (the two of us) taking sandwiches when we're off on one of our train trips. We only need to take what we are going to eat en route, as we'll be eating in hotels or out when we get there, so would have to leave the remainder at home in the fridge until we get back.

We love cheese, but not 5 slices each in a 3 or 4 hour journey!

Thanks for the suggestions about greaseproof paper and freezing, that's a good idea.

    .

With cheese, I would never pay any attention to "Use within 3 days". I regularly have sliced cheese in the fridge for over a week and it's absolutely fine - common sense tells you when cheese should not be eaten :)
  • Aldi do sliced cheese, Emmental is particularly nice but also have smoked Bavarian etc
  • although it always says use within 3 days I buy 10 slice cheddar from asda or sainsburys and it lasts us a week on daily sandwiches....most are now resealable so stay fresh

I buy 20 slices for £1.99 from lidl. It lasts a week easily. I cut it up with scissors if I want it grated.

Too much packaging on food to start with.

You could use the left over slices for cheese on toast (This is what I buy them for). And like what has been said already, take no notice of the consume in 3 days warning, especially if you're going to have cheese on toast. :)
