Mortgage advice with previous defaults

We are in a tricky situation and need advice.
We have a large amount of debt 8/9 years ago and joined a debt management plan. The first company we went with was very poor and we defaulted, we then went with step change ( the government recommended one). We cleared over half of it in 7/6 years and then recently we inherited some money. We have clear our debts in a full settlement.
We now have a deposit for a house of 45k.
We saw a house on a new development they gave us a card for a mortgage adviser and we went through the application. We just found out that he has said he can't help us and can't find a mortgage. That was it!!
Where do we go from here? :(

Speak to a broker that deals with adverse credit mortgage applications. Unfortunately settling your debts and having a deposit doesn't magically wipe away your poor credit history.

Find another broker. I would be surprised if the adverse can not be overcome.

  • Just been approved for mortgage despite having a ccj and default on file. Mine settled but they are both over five years old. Get copies of all your files £2 each so you know where you are. Find a whole of market broker. Worth the cost as got mortgage at decent rate even with past problems. There is a way forward for you
