What does "ers pens" mean on a payslip

Hi,

I am writing a letter back to the tax office regarding my pension paid in the 2011-2012 tax year. Looking at my last pay check of that year(28/3/2012) under accumulations I see "ers pens" and I am thinking this is the total of the net contributions I made that year. Would that be correct? Sorry if this is obvious but this stuff is not the easiest to understand for layman like me;)

thanks

Adam

On payslips you get ers and ees: Employer's and Employee's

So if there is a line for ers pension it will be the total employer's contributions to your pension, which is usually included on the payslip for information only (it does not form part of your salary which is going through your payslip with a gross to net analysis each month).

It may by coincidence be the same as the net contributions that you made for the year.

Thanks for that I am clearer now :) I miscalculated earlier... my employer was matching my gross employee contributions so if I double the ERS figure that will be overall gross pension for that year
