what happens when its a joint bankruptcy

Hi guys, my wife and I are declaring ourselves bankrupt as our debts are in joint names. My wife is absolutely terrified of the OR meeting and I am not particularly looking forward to it myself. Will we be interviewed separately or together ? does anyone know
Thanks,

Taib0

Each person is declared bankrupt individually and is therefore interviewed individually.

But (from memory of what other people have posted) most of the time the OR will allow the OH to sit in on the interview, although they should not participate or interfere unless asked to.

As said, I do remember people posting in the past about this, so hopefully they will add their experiences.

    Hi taib0,

Our interviews with the O.R were consecutive and my O.H was adamant that she had no intention of being interviewed seperately. Initially we met the O.R together and she stated that there was nothing she could say, that the finances had been my responsibility and there would be no point holding seperate interviews.

I think he may have left the room to consult with a manager but when he came back he said that there would be no problem with a joint interview, he would just change the personal details on two forms and that would be o.k.

That's very handy to know Richard.:D

I must admit when this question popped up I did wonder how you had handled your interviews.
