Miss sold pension.

I'm pursuing a miss sold pension claim through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. I transferred out of a preserved Army pension in 1993 to another pension plan.
A question on the claim form enquires about financial loss. So I wrote to the Ministry of Defence to get an idea of what the pension would of been worth had I not transferred out. They informed me that there is a £150 charge for a deferred benefits statement. They did tell me benefits would of been payable from my 60th birthday.
Should I pay for a proper statement or would it be good enough to find out the plan details and work it out myself on the assumption that the FSCS has a good knowledge of Army pensions?

To get compensation, you'd probably need the paid statement. So you might want to get on that.

But if you go to the scheme booklet, or say exactly how many years you had in, when you joined and when you left, and your annual FT salary when you left - someone might be able to work it out for you-roughly.

Are you not too late to claim for this? I thought that the early nineties miss selling leading to the pensions review was all finished now?

Are you preparing evidence that you were missold or has it been accepted and now establishing the size of the Liss?

If the case is not yet proven do you want to risk this sum? I assume that if the miss selling is proved you would get the costs of preparing the claim paid?

I contacted the Financial Ombudsman at first, who informed me that the company who advised me no longer traded, and that I would have to go through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. I contacted them and gave a few details over the phone and they sent me a claim form. I'd of hoped they would of told if there had been time limit?
With regards to pension statement, I think I could probably work out the pension value myself but don't want to jeopardise the claim by not supplying the correct information. But £150 is a lot if I'm not unsuccessfull.
I shall ring the FSCS on Tuesday to ask a few questions, however if anyone has gone through this process or can help I'd appreciate it.
