Winterthur Life Endowment Advice??

Hi all

Sorry for what may appear like a silly question but I really cant seem to find the answer.

I took out a Winterthur Life Endowment Policy in 2000 to compliment my Abbey National Interest Only Mortgage. When I say I took out, I was kinda forced to take both the mortgage and THAT endowment policy.
Anyway I remortgaged in 2007 and stopped paying into the Endowment Policy. I thought no more of it until now!

I was wondering do I still have a fund sitting somewhere with Winterthur Life and if so how do I get a copy of how much its worth, or will they have taken my money and I wont see any more of it?

Thanks for your time

  • The Winterthur policies were taken on by Friends Life (which was created when Friends Provident took over the AXA Life business in 2010 (AXA having purchase Winterthur from Credit Suisse in 2007)).

So to start with try contacting Friends Life on either:

    Telephone: 0345 304 0401
Or write to: Friends Life, Centre, PO Box 1810, Bristol, BS99 5SN
  • To answer your question, unless you surrendered your policy after you stopped paying premiums, then it will have some value, and the insurer can tell you how much you'll get if you cash it in (or provide projections of what it might pay off at maturity).

Did you inform the company of any change of address, as they probably have been sending you updates once a year.
