Best Top Coat Recommendations

Hi,

I am looking for a decent top coat. I have been using Sally Hansens quick dry one in the red bottle, but although it dries quickly, it seems to stay soft for ages, so I inevitably end up knocking it.

Are there any out there that aren't too thick and last??

I have been using GelSetter from Essie recently and found it really good. It is thickish though and not exactly a top coat.

I am using CND Vinylux and it's brilliant, but I use the Vinylux colours as well.

I don't know how it would work over a different polish.

I usually switch between Seche Vite and Rimmel 5 in 1.

Not sure what it's called but I use one by Essie I bought ages ago (store in the fridge, it lasts longer). It was a top coat and base coat in one and seems to do the job fine.

I also paint a coat of the topcoat every day if not every other day and find it makes the polish stay unchipped for longer. Have to say though, I can't remember the last time I painted my nails, I do always have my toes polished but don't bother with my hands as they're in and out of water so often and I'm born clumsy so don't waste my time! I can vouch for the above working fine for toe nails though.

Whatever I use needs to be really quick drying as I have dexterity problems and invariably end up smudging or denting the lovely new polish.

My top 3 are Seche Vite, Nails Inc Caviar Top Coat and Poshe, all are quite expensive but offers are out there regularly. Seche Vite, for some has a bit of a reputation for shrinking back the polish on the nail tip, (looks like tip wear and appears worse on dark colour) like a lot of things body chemistry can maek a huge difference as to what works for one and not another.

  • I've tried a few of the cheaper ones but Seche Vite works for me . Bit more expensive though .
