Adjustments from pay

Hi everyone,
I recently left my job on 2nd August, I had 15 days holiday remaining, therefore I was expecting a certain amount of money at the end of the month.
However on my payslip it is showing an 'adjustment' of -£423.69.
Can anyone advise what this adjustment might be for? I have sent an email to payroll but I won't get an answer from them until at least Tuesday

Are you sure you had that much leave? When did your leave year start and end? When was your normal pay date, and what period did it cover?Signature removed for peace of mind0

If your leave year is, for example, April to March and you have taken more than you have accrued up until your leaving date, then the adjustment will be for that. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Thank you for the replies

Payroll confirmed on Friday that I was paid for 15 days holiday.

Do the other lines on your payslip make sense?
For instance, as you left on 2 August, does it show your normal pay for a month and then the adjustment?
Did you have anything like a season ticket loan?0 -
All I have on my payslip is
Adjustment -£423.69
Hol pay £1271.08
The only things coming out of my pay was my pension and a dining membership which I was paying £2.50 a month, and the total cost for the year was £30.0 -
So the update from payroll.....
Your termination date is 26/07/15, you were paid until 31/07/15 in July, the adjustement is recovering 5 days overpaid in July.
However, my last working day was 2nd August, so they have docked me one weeks pay. Now waiting for the area manager to confirm that I actually did work that week, have a feeling he won't 'remember' though
