Hi
I was in Lidl and got this basket of garlic for 85p. I am not complaining I like Lidl, but when I got home I discovered the garlic were 'whole bulbs,' I've never seen that before and was wondering what type of garlic is it?
I have to say I prefer garlic bulbs made up of cloves to avoid waste.
Cheers

:T We always buy this in preference to the normal garlic. A bit milder but great to cook with.0

Good price Penny, think it's over a £1 here.0

It's just normal garlic that hasn't had a long enough growing season to split into cloves. I get the same if I plant mine in late spring rather than autumn. If you plant them now, they will grow into 'normal' garlic next year. I quite like them as they are less fiddly if you are using a lot of garlic.0

You don't need to have any waste. If you don't want to use it all, grate or blitz them, put in a plastic bag and flatten out on a baking tray or similar and freeze. Then you can just break off a wee bit when you want to use it.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Why not grow your own very easy to do any takes little space. I planted some last week for next year harvest mid Summer
bulbs for £2 at wilkos I get around 7-8 plants per bulb. That will be 21-24 garlic for £20 -
Thanks NeverinDebt
I have planted garlic, and potatoes on my balcony in the past.
I was walking through the woods about 6 weeks ago, and noticed the place stunk of garlic. The place was full of wild garlic. However I've read that UK version of the plant has edible leaves rather than bulbs:
