Chicken in a bag...bag burst, is that ok?

I bought a roast-in-the-bag chicken from Tescos, put it in the gas oven at the recommended mark 6, and the bag immediately puffed up and then burst and collapsed. Is that what it's supposed to do? It's the first time I've bought one and I expected the bag to remain sealed until I cut it open at the end.

The bag is meant to stay sealed, just remove the bag and cook the chicken normally.0

No I don't think its meant to do that, but it will be okay. Just leave it to cook normally.0

Thanks so much for your quick reply - I've taken the bag off. Pity though - I was looking forward to trying the new way of cooking it.0

Did it say to cut a slit in the bag?
Some do not have to be slit but others do.0
