Sewing blankets together?

I have a camp blanket, it's an ikea fleece (just the cheapy £3 ones) and covered in fabric guiding/scouting badges. I love it to pieces but it's white, this wasn't a problem while the main leader at our guides didn't like camping but we've merged with a new unit and they are camp daft!
I'm not unpicking the badges, there are almost 100 of them so I thought I could maybe back my cheapy ikea fleece onto something that's darker and heavier than what I have so that when it's rolled up it's the darker colour that's getting dirty?
So we are visiting ikea tomorrow on unrelated duties and was wondering, if I pick up one of their heavier fleeces would it be beyond the realms of possibility for a novice sewer (all I sew is badges onto sashes/fleeces) to sew the two fleeces together? I recon the job may be too thick for MIL to do it on the machine for me.

I can't see why not, as long as they're both the same size it should be effective, blanket stitch is very quick once you get going, and it might be worth sewing them together in the middle too so that they stay together properly.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Two fleeces should sew together easy enough on a sewing machine, I've done it loads of times making fleecey hammocks and beds for my pet rats in the past.0
