OK, so you've entered a competition on Facebook and/or Twitter. You've RT and Liked, Shared and commented on.
A few days later the competition as ended. You check and see they've chosen and contacted the winner and it's not you.
Is there a right time to unfollow etc or do you still Like etc?
This question isn't aimed at regular comps on FB and Twitter eg Home Bargains, Aldi, David Lackie etc. More at one off competitions which you know won't be repeated again. Or do you still Follow etc?

On Facebook I don't unlike because I haven't run into any kind of limit yet! On twitter I am always reaching the limit so use an app to unfollow quickly, I sort it by last tweet so if a company hasn't tweeted at all since last year then I know it's unlikely they'll be having any kind of competition soon but I wouldn't unlike them unless I was at my limit.
On the reverse side I remember running a twitter competition and a lot of accounts unfollowed including the winner when she received her prize, I didn't really mind about the random accounts because I completely get it's nothing personal but found the winner slightly cold.
I try to always keep following the companies I have won from/make sure they know I appreciated winning0 -
Don't unlike on facebook, no reason to until I get a ban for liking too many or hit a limit (is there even one?)
Twitter is a whole different ball game with their follow limit. Unfollow when I hit my limit. I use an App but it's hard to judge who to unfollow. I tend to sort by the date I followed them and work back, holding on to the regular ones. Always fear i'll unfollow when there's an active come but i'm usually in a marathon session of comping when I need to unfollow so I try to do it as quickly as possible.0 -
Because I found when I did a check that I was following random twitter accounts who just posted a solitary comp to get followers I now copy the link location when I enter a comp and post it into a word doc with a date next to it 2 months after the comp ends. Once the 2 months is up I then click on the link in the document and double check the twitter account in case they post regular comps, if not, they get unfollowed. Its a little bit time consuming but I'm only checking about 1 a day if that (don't enter every twitter comp) but since the demise of Twit Cleaner its the only way I know of clearing my twitter account.
P.S. I never bother about FB as haven't reach a limit but could use the same system if necessaryGrowing old is unavoidable. However, growing up is still optional.0 -
I use unfollowers.com to sort out since the last tweet and unfollow any that haven't tweeted for 2 months. That's because I've hit a limit!Comping since 2014!0

Thanks for this, it's really helpful. I managed to unfollow 100 people today (that was my free limit). All of which hadn't been active for over 2 years!!! I'm now down to following 1746 :eek::rotfl:Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,869.54 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £130 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £139.39 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
You can follow 5000 now so no need to unfollow so often.0

I tend to carry on following and liking because the pages tend to carry on running comps.Jan Wins: .0

I always use the lists feature for twitter. Make a private list for each month (not too many ahead. ATM I have oct, nov, and dec all active). If you follow someone for a comp ending in november add them to it. once you get to mid-month the following month then you delete them all.
If you enter a comp and you're already following them, just check if they are in a list and need moving because of a different end date.
Private lists means that they don't know they are added to it, and it stops your timeline getting too full of random stuff you don't need.
Unfortunately I've yet to figure out a system for FB. grrr.Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0 -
There will probably be other promotions run by the same promoter so whats the harm in staying a follower? Also some promoters will block/disqualify you if they see you following/unfollowing around competitions time.
To me, following to unfollow just shows youre not interested in the brand only what freebies you can get out of themnow Twitter have upped the limit to 5000 you should just stay following as youre most likely not going to hit the limit.

I always keep on liking as they always do more competitions , never seen one offs. As for twitter if you follow and unfollow too often I think you can be barred from Twitter. I know I read this somewhere but cannot remember , maybe it was twitters rules I read it on.0
