Which mortgage provider and joint accounts beneficial?

Hello, I'm 26 years old and have banked with Halifax for approximately 7/8 years. It's the account I have my wages paid into each month. My partner banks with Barclays and has her wages paid into there, she's been with them for about two years now, prior to that she was with HSBC for a few years.

In the next three to five years we are hoping to get a mortgage.

Would it be wise for my partner to transfer her account to Halifax too and us both bank with them for the next couple of years prior to applying for a mortgage?

Would it make it easier for Halifax to reach a positive decision if they can see both our account history and on the basis that over the years we'd both build up a good customer profile with them?

Would it complicate matters that my partner is with another bank?

I've been leaning more towards a Halifax mortgage because they seem to have an outstanding reputation for mortgages and seem to be one of the biggest mortgage providers in the UK, if not the biggest.

James

Where you bank makes little difference. Stay as you are and use a broker when the time comes.
