The camera isnt bad if all you want is a point and shoot thing you can stick in your pocket, Tesco gave me one for nothing with a photo printer a year or so ago. just buy shares in duracell or enegiser as the thing munches its way through batteries. ohh and don't lend it to your dad where he will spill a drink on it making all the buttons and lense cover stick when being used.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
There is a detailed review of the camera at http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/sony_s40.html

If you don't want to read through the whole review, select Steve's conclusion from the drop-down box.

Hmm, I've got a DSC-S40 and I use decent recharable batteries (Always use recharge - saves a lot of money over time!) and I can go weeks without charging - easily taking 500 photos between charges.

Why not? Sony are no better than anyone else - worse, in fact, because they lock you into their overpriced Memory Sticks which no-one else uses.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
