Question about status

Hi, this might be a silly question but what do i put my status as, the CAB said it should be separated but i was going to put Single. I'm a single mum of two and haven't been with my ex (not married) since May 2014. Any help would be appreciated.

Separated = Married, but separated.
In my eyes anyway.
