Buy from amazon.co.jp

Options
My sister lives in Japan and wants me to buy here something from here for her birthday: http://www.amazon.co.jp/

How does it work? The prices are quoted in Yen. Is there an automated conversion facility from pounds to Yen? Do I know the exchange rate before buying? Is there a charge to buy? I bank with HSBC and Santander.

  • The latest exchange rates can be found at:
    xe.com

If you are able to buy from the site using your credit card, your card issuer will convert at the current rate for the day of purchase.
for an example, I just compared prices between the Japanese site and the UK site for a 16GB Kindle fire HDX8.9 and the Japanese site is £110 cheaper!

    Good luck

You can also do a quick conversion here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=yen+to+GBP

    Hope you read Japanese..
