Mortgage claim

2 years ago I wrote to Standard Life regarding my endowment being misold to me in 1987. They replied saying that because I had since taken a further loan on my mortgage, I was not able to claim. I had 3 months to appeal. I now wish I had done so. Can anyone advise me if I should / can take it further or is it a lost cause? Thanks
