What is the best heat protection straightening spray/serum/balm for afro hair?

My daughter is mixed race and has very afro hair shoulder length when straightened. I don't straighten it often as I know it damages the hair.
What is the best heat protection straightening spray/serum/balm to use before straightening afro hair with straightening irons.
I usually wash her hair with mixed chicks shampoo. Then mixed chicks deep conditioner and leave this on for upto 1 hr with shower cap. Rinse off. Blow dry straight then straighten with GHD's.
Before I blow dry I add a heat protection spray or serum and again before I straighten hair with GHD's I apply a little heat protection serum.
Nothing keeps her hair from frizzing and it doesn't stay straight for long. The hairdressers do a slightly better job than me she has just visited hairdresser and it costs £35 for wash, trim, blowdry and straightening.
I have tried so many products over the years ranging from £3 - £30 and nothing works! I was thinking of trying JOICO K-PAK SMOOTHING BALM 200ML or Tresemme Treatment 7 DAY SMOOTH 120ML both have great reviews for afro hair.
I have spent ages watching you tube clips of ladies/girls straightening their hair but many of the products they mention I am finding it difficult to locate them in UK.
We have a couple of shops here in Bristol who specialise in afro hair products and I have tried so many suggested for afro hair some have ingredients such as olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, argan oil etc. Daughter is only just 13 so I do not want to relax her hair as I think it looks lovely natural but she doesn't. She does like the option of having the choice thou of curly or straight so doesn't want it relaxed yet, thank god!
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Helen, have a go with the Frizz ease stuff. I find I get best results when i put the serum in when the hair is wet. Wrap a towel round the hair, DO NOT RUB thats what roughens up the cuticles, making it frizz. Leave the towel on to 'soak up' most of the water. I use straighteners that also dry the hair. do it in small sections, slowly. Afterwards I put a little morrocan oil into the palm of my hands, and just run it over the hair.
If she wants it curly, put in in some large plaits when wet, put some curling creme on your hands (lots) when undoing them, use your fingers to style.
pm me if you have any questions.Loving the sunny days!0 -

Ooo, interesting post! Do you put the Frizz Ease in BEFORE wrapping hair in a towel? Also, what is the name of those magic straighteners you mentioned please?
Oh, and alllllso (can you tell I'm eager here?!) how much serum do you use, and do you distribute it with a comb or just by hand?
Many thanks!0 -
well, you are careful at taking after your hair. I found this information, maybe help you. There are some good protection spray for hair straightening such as: CHI Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray, VO5 Heat Protection Styling Spray. Hope you enjoy it.0

ORS (Organic Root Stimulator) is quite good. I swear by it. It gives a nice gloss and shine to the hair too. When I blow dry my hair, I use a Tresemme heat protection spray. I have been looking at websites online of where to purchase ORS so I do not have to venture into the city centre, especially at this time of year! Boots stock it.

You could check out British Curlies website, loads of fantastic tips for reducing frizz on there. Or if wanted to try the co-wash method, have a look at Curly Girls! (Conditioner-Washing Group for Women). It's a really friendly site and lots of different hair types who follow this method.0
