What happens to the mortgage if you get divorced?

He wants to wait 2 years. He said he is happy for us to stay in the house but he won't be able to contribute to the mortgage - I am happy to pay that myself. He will have to continue to pay towards the joint loan though as I can't afford that as well. When we were together my wage paid the mortgage, bills and debts. We lived off his wage. That is why I can no longer afford to pay the debts. I have contacted StepChange and they have advised either a IVA or a DMP which I have started a new thread about.
This sucks. I will never marry another man and I will certainly never get credit again, not that I think I will ever be able to
I said i would never marry again, and i'm on to my third husband!!0 -
I also said I'd never marry again, but four years after splitting with my ex-husband, I'm now married to a lovely man

I can totally understand though. I still live in the house I bought with my ex and I'm paying the mortgage. My plan is to sell when my youngest is 18 and then split the equity with my ex and buy something with my new husband (who is currently renting out his house).
Good luck!0 -
I think he'll accept to anything to get this over and done with. I just was not sure if we had to delay til the divorce goes through or not.0
