O/S Daily Tuesday 25th August 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, dull and overcast, ground drying up after the rain yesterday, much cooler too.
DH up and getting ready to go to work shortly. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage, bacon and mushroom pasta in a crème fraiche sauce – was delish! Tonight hairdresser is coming so dinner will be a bit late so an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg/salad once she’s gone.
Work yesterday was as expected very busy – but it made the day pass quickly. I’m working at the other office today so that’ll be a nice change as haven’t been over there for several weeks.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Not raining atm but the sky looks very black, we are meant to get rain all day ! at the other site for me so it might be busier as people wont want to go out in the rain so come to us instead.
Expecting dd home in an hour or so I will run up to station and collect her, she is shattered been travelling one way or another for about 10 hours the plane was very delayed. I expect she will have a cuppa / breakfast and get to bed.
Collected my euros last night :j only two more days at work then finished for two weeks, I cant wait, I really need a break, I love my job but its so stressful !! Tired mum, yes come with ! I'm sure we can squeeze you in
Flambe tonight with new potatoes and salad stuff, trying to eat all the fresh bits up before we go.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
Another muggy night here, not too comfortable. Yesterday turned out warm all day though not often sunny.
I've got a hair appointment at 9.15 and then I'm heading down to Glasgow. My mum still isn't too well and her blood test last week showed up residual infection in her system. She has a pre-existing hospital appointment which I'll take her too.
Window man is coming on Wednesday morning to start to fit the new windows. :j He said it'll take two days to fit and then they'll come a third day to snag them if needed, and train me how to open them. There's a way to open them wide for washing (sash windows) and to use as an emergency escape route. That should be interesting.
Hope everyone has a good day. RR, love your excitement.0 -
Morning all
We have blue sky ATM not sure how long it will last , hopefully all day
Off to work , it always so busy but at least it means it goes fast
I had a manager sitting with me yesterday observing my clinic ,all went well as far as I can tell .
gers hope your mum soon recovers it's a worry, my mum has unexplained abdo pain, her bloods and scan were normal so not sure what's going to happen next , but the Drs don't seem to be in any rush
Still waiting for dd1s start date for work , she keeps ringing HR and they are fobbing her off all the time , it's so frustrating for her
Anyhoo off to work now , have good days everyone xx0 -
Morning one and all. It's a beautiful start here and forecast to last all day. We have had a run of really nice days, with torrential rain falling at night, I can put up with that!
We got over to the caravan as planned yesterday but only for the day sadly. Mr TA just wants to be at home the way he is. All was well, the awning still standing and the electric hadn't tripped so no stagnating food to clear out from the freezer! I took a picnic lunch with us which we were enjoying in the sunshine when DD rang from the IOW. She can't believe the rain they are getting down there, nor the fact that, for once, the weather is better up here! The 3 DGDs all wanted to speak to each of us and tell us all they had been doing and what was planned etc. The phone call lasted forever! It was lovely to hear them as we have missed them so much this last 10 days. And they still have another week down there. Another big batch of photos followed via WhatsApp. The rain doesn't seem to bother them and they were having fun come rain or shine!
No plans for today but I must make a decision on what to do with the foraged fruit from LAST summer still in the chest freezer. With Mr TA not eating well he hasn't been bothered for fruit pies, crumbles, etc, so I haven't bothered baking them just for me. Despite using a lot in jam and chutney over the year, I still have loads of bilberries, blackberries, gooseberries and elderberries in there. I suppose it will end up going in more jam and chutney and distributing around the family. A job for the next miserable day and I must make sure I am stocked up on the sugar, vinegar and spices I need.
Have a good day all ((((((HUG)))))) if needed , GERS hope your mum picks up soon and take care all whatever you are up to xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Have a great day whatever you are up to0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I've woken with a bit of a stiff neck so will be moving very cautiously today
. Hubby has gone off to work ok but he's really looking forward to having a few days off at the end of this week.
I will be making a lamb tagine from the Hairy Dieter's book in a minute for tea. I make mine in the slowcooker so have adapted the recipe slightly so there is less stock. We haven't had it for ages and I really like it served with some cous cous. I will make rice for the girls though as they are not so keen
.
My poor computer was attacked yesterday and I couldn't use it until my hubby had come home to sort it out. Honestly it felt as though my arm was cut off :rotfl:but it did make me realize how much time I spend/waste on the internet. I will be using it less and being more productive around the house instead.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, was feeling poorly yesterday but am fine this morning, what a difference a day makes eh?
Grey skies here but no rain yet, it's coming though. I've the hairdresser this morning, He Who Knows is picking raspberries etc. on the allotment and I'm heading up to pick blackberries, beans and tomatoes before it gets wet in just a mo. Nothing specific planned for today except a neighbour has said she'll not be using her bramley apples this year as her IBS is very bad so we can have as many as we want so we'll pick up windfalls now and I'll be making more apple puree for the freezer today.
Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Afternoon all
We were up about 6ish, caught 2 buses to hospital, I've had my boobs squeezed, I have big floppy ones so it's not painful, then went to get new batteries for my deaf aids.
Hubby & I went to the nearest 'spoons for breakfast, £2.99 for sausage, bacon, hash browns, tomato, beans, egg & toast, very nice it was too.
We got home, I made a cuppa & then it started to rain, so we timed it just right.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Afternoon all,
Not a bad day here though is gone a bit cloudy.Hope it doesn't rain as my niece is bringing her DS over,he starts school this time.We are meant to be going on the park as I have DGS today (currently asleep
) I have a friend who is dropping off an early birthday present for me but she's not staying long.
I have cleaned the windows as they had DGS fingerprints all over and it looked a mess with the sun shining. The house is fairly tidy apart from the kitchen/dining still undergoing work, can't do much about unplastered walls and wires poking through the ceiling :rotfl:
Went to a hobby store yesterday and got a few bits for my cardmaking, thought it seemed noisy-they had a sewing group upstairs, but also a lot of clearance items items I was looking at.When I walked round the other side I spotted my cousin sat at the table, first time she'd been.As they were finishing off we went next door to Dun elm for a cuppa, which was nice. She is reducing her hours next term and will be off Mondays so thought the sewing group would be good -might join her!
Easy tea of quiche tonight, dont get chance to do a lot when I mind DGS.
RR hope you have a great hol,you deserve it.
HH,the description of your boobage made me laugh out loud:D
Have good days all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
