Project 27
Hi my names Ed and I turned 27 last week.
I’m a long time lurker on mse and thought now would be a good time to post!
As with most birthdays I find it’s a time of reflection rather than celebration. Last year was pretty !!!! for me I must confess, a year and a half ago I was made redundant from a fairly decent job and quickly found another in academia as a technician in the field I’d worked in in industry (a cheap lecturer in other words). After finding out just how bent the system is I was fired for putting the business into disrepute / stepping on peoples toes.
So I moved back in with my mother and started working at a warehouse making as much (if not slightly more packing automotive parts).
This is seriously not where I want to be and I need to put my foot down, and pull my finger out. I could go back into industry but that industry’s growth is largely mothballed until the UK makes a decision in 4 years’ time as to whether or not we are staying in or leaving the EU.
I’ve found however over the last year I have become completely unmotivated and lethargic I have made money online in the past but am always chasing the cash I was making back when I was at uni. This was largely ppc and aggressive diet pill rebill affiliate programs, for 10 months I was making more money per month that I do now in a year.
After a night fishing session and a heart to heart with an old friend about where I am now I realised that I flounder because I don’t have any set goals and am not accountable to anyone.
So the plan...
Project 27.
The plan is to lay it all out on the table and explain everything I do and why I’ve done it like I have. To set myself targets every day and post them here to prove I’ve done them.
If the project doesn’t break even, is too time intensive or will be facing insurmountable legal issues after 27 days I will sell it or scrap it.
In any case profitable or not I will start a new project if it is paying its way I will outsource as much as I possibly can.
The reason I’ve chosen to do it this way is because in the past I’ve worked for months and months at a time on projects which I’ve known deep down wouldn’t work. I need to get away from digging holes and chucking money into pits which aren’t going to produce.
I’m currently writing my first project and will post it for your critique once I’ve finished!

Project one.
Niche Facebook ‘for sale’ groups.
The other week I asked myself what do I actually use Facebook for? I came to the conclusion that I spend 90% of my time on facebook groups.
There is a niche for every facebook group and they are full of people passionate for that topic, I regularly use about 7 different Facebook groups myself for checking fishing reports to finding out if there are any jobs going in my industry to news on any developments in reptile breeding.
In any case there are groups for anything and what most of these groups have are people trying to sell items related to that niche in them.
A group about toy dogs may have people trying to sell second had dog leads, people selling puppies or arts and crafts people selling homemade dog beds (I’m going out on a limb here I’m more of a cat person!)
What you do have however are groups related to buying and selling in that niche and these are the facebook groups we are going to create.
Why?
Generally the people who inhabit these groups are either looking to buy or looking to sell something quick. We can manipulate both of these groups to hopefully make a reasonable amount of income for very little group maintenance.
The plan.- Create 10 different facebook for sale groups in 10 different niches that I know something about.
- Direct message people who are selling in other groups to post there ads in my groups
- To post in other niche groups that I saw XYZ being sold at *my Facebook group* it may be of interest to you guys if you’re looking for it?”
- If there is interest and demand I may go the Facebook pay per click route (I haven’t used Facebook ppc for about 6 years)
- After the page has grown to a level for which it is self-supporting (it is getting join requests via word of mouth) I will attach a sticky post to the top of the page.
- Depending on niche this could be a membership site I create, a premium ebook, or I will contact retailers in this niche to see if they would like to buy the sponsored post for a month with large discounts if they buy the post for a year.
What do you guys think?
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated0
